Topic
In this webinar Dr. Tanner Kirk will give an overview of Functionally Graded Materials with a focus on the applications and challenges associated with compositionally graded alloys. The use of integrated computational materials engineering (ICME) to address challenges such as deleterious phases, thermal expansion mismatch, and hot cracking will also be discussed. Examples will be shown for how such calculations can be made in QuesTek’s ICMD® software platform for binary, ternary, or even higher dimensional material gradient systems. In this webinar, attendees will learn about:
Speaker BioDr. Tanner Kirk – Senior Materials Design Engineer, QuesTek InnovationsTanner Kirk has a Ph.D. and B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University. In his dissertation, titled “Computational Design of Compositionally Graded Alloys”, he developed and applied a novel method for the design of gradient materials. Dr. Kirk is a Senior Materials Design Engineer and has been at QuesTek for over 3 years on the software and digital team, specializing in additive manufacturing, optimization, and machine learning. He is also a lead developer of the Alloy Design Toolkit on the ICMD® platform.
