Title: Five Expert Tips for Optimal Nonferrous Melt Control with Spark OES

Speaker: Jochen Meurs, General Manager, OES at Hitachi High Tech

    Description:

Optical emission spectroscopy (OES) technology is an effective way of analyzing elements at low limits of detection in various types of metal. However, important elements in nonferrous casting, such as phosphorus, antimony, and bismuth, present a greater challenge to measure.

In this webinar, attendees will learn about:

    • Why aluminum and other nonferrous-based material melts have the tendency to segregate as they solidify, resulting in uneven concentrations of elements within cast products
    • Why it is difficult to get representative sampling from melts, cast products, or samples for the lab
    • How measuring signals, using spark OES analysis on solid samples, are influenced by the morphology of solidification and cast structure of the sample
    • Five tips to achieve optimal nonferrous melt control with spark OES

    Speaker’s Biography:

Jochen Meurs is general manager, OES territory sales at Hitachi High-Tech Analytical Science, having previously worked as the global applications team and knowledge centre manager based in Germany. He has more than 30 years of experience in the field of optical emission spectroscopy mainly focused on arc/spark metal analysis.
