Event Title: The Influence of Bearing Material Properties on the Optimum Design of Heavily Loaded Bearings
Speaker: David Krus, Market Director, Industrial and Powertrain
Given the current level of sophistication of drafting and modeling software, mechanical designers are limited solely by attributes of the materials available. This is particularly true in apparently simple systems like plain bearings. In a previous ASM Webinar, Material Selection and Design Considerations for Heavily Loaded Bearings (Dec. 2020), we discussed the interaction between material attributes and performance for heavily loaded plain bearings. Relative material attributes were determined by standardizing the system geometry, speed, load, lubrication, mating materials, environment, and other factors to isolate bearing material as the only variable. Now, in this follow-up webinar, we will cover details for achieving the optimal bearing performance.
In this webinar, attendees will learn about:
David Krus is a marketing director at Materion's global headquarters in Ohio. His primary area of focus is helping manufacturers in the industrial bearings and automotive powertrain markets increase efficiency and performance with specialty copper-based alloys and other advanced materials. In this role, Dave combines his academic background in materials science with more than 25 years of commercial experience in engineering, marketing, and business development, working most often with engineering and design teams that are looking to optimize and enhance their latest product iterations.
Dave earned his B.S. in physics from the University of Notre Dame. He also holds both an M.S. degree and a Ph.D. in materials physics from Case Western Reserve University. He is a member of multiple professional organizations including ASM International; the Association of Equipment Manufacturers; the Society for Mining Metallurgy & Exploration; and SAE International.
Hi Carrie,Thanks for the heads up - but - When I press register after filling in my info, nothing happens and I haven't received a confirmation email. I wonder if this is an issue because I'm on the DHS network?
ASM International is the world's largest association of materials-centric engineers and scientists. We are dedicated to informing, educating, and connecting the materials community to solve problems and stimulate innovation around the world.
