Greetings , we produce a large tonnage of Abrasive Resistance - Wear Resistance White Cast Irons. BS4844 Specification or ASTM Specifications and many others are available. your requirement is in the 23/28% Cr, 2.4/2.8 %C, 0.5/1.0% Si, 0.5/1.0 % Mn. operate with a 10:1 ratio Cr:C. this will give a suitable Microstructure. As cast BHN is 400/450. heat treatment to soften for machining should take you to 350BHN. hardening for best wear / abrasion resistance will give 600BHN. we melt in coreless induction furnaces, medium frequency. anneal @ 750-800Cfor 1 hour/25mm, furnace cool to 600C, then air cool to ambient temperature. harden heat slow to1000C soak for 1hr /25mm max section. complex section may need stress relieve or temper. BHN > 600. hope this helps you. microstructure : eutectic and pro- eutectoid carbide in a predominantly martensitic matric.
regards, Brian Seviour.
