    Dear all,

    I would like to ask you suggestions about books or open access papers to where I can read more about damage problems in hydraulic machines that are studied by modelling and simulations.

    Is part of my researching work inside a group of researching from my University.

    Your question is about a very wide field which has been studied for some time.  Cavitation and (in hydroelectric turbines powered by natural waters) erosive wear are very significant problems.  In fact in my opinion the costs of these problems are probably underestimated for power production turbines.  This is because a small loss in efficiency due to surface contour change and increase in drag may, over the long term of many megawatt hours of generation, be more expensive than the costs of repair though it is not tracked as such.  Of course fatigue caused by these issues causes a much more sudden loss of efficiency, once it results in failure.

    As in most areas of research the best path is to look at not just a few papers but the references from those papers.  :-)  I am retired and don't have access to the (mostly older) engineering library any more, but this paper below seems like a good start   https://www.iieta.org/download/file/fid/2207

    Yes is a big theme cavitation.

    I will look for the material problems consecuence of fatigue and cavitation damage. 

    And others researching will work on simulations by computer.
