    Hello,

Could somebody inform me about the FSW efficiency for carbon steels, for instant ST37 ?  I have to weld 2000 parts per day..

Does it make sense to convert the welding line including 2 robots and 10 additional welders ? What are the quality issues if any ?

The parts are - Embrace pipe fittings.

    Thank you

@Rajiv Mishra, FASM -  an expert in friction stir welding (FSW) may be able to assist. You might also reach out to the Edison Welding Institute in Columbus to address your FSW questions.

    Hope that helps.

    Dear Eli.
I worked with Wayne Thomas, the inventor of FSW at TWI England, since 1997  on developibg tool materials for steel welding. Looking at the component you are intending to weld, I do not think FSW is the process to use for this application. There are several other techniques which have possibilities. What size are your components?
The material for FSW tools for welding steel are PCBN and these are very expensive, easily damaged and cannot be refurbished. Also your configuration appears unsuitable for this technique.
Best if you contact me privately on david.rowe@cedarmetals.co.uk and we can discuss possibilities.
    Best regards
