DESCRIPTION: Heavily loaded plain bearings are widely utilized across many industries including aerospace, mining and construction, and manufacturing. The tribological performance of these bearings is highly dependent on choice of mating materials. This webinar will explore materials selection and design factors to consider for systems that involve sliding contact between two surfaces.

SPEAKER BIO: @Robert Kusner is the innovation portfolio manager at Materion Performance Alloys and Composites. He holds an undergraduate degree in physics and electrical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He earned his Ph.D. in experimental condensed matter physics at Case Western Reserve University in 1993, studying melting phase transitions in systems constrained to two dimensions.
For 20 years, Bob has led efforts to develop, test, and use Materion's advanced materials in highly demanding applications, including copper-nickel-tin and copper-beryllium alloys, He currently manages research activities for the Technology and Innovation group at Materion's Performance Alloys and Composites business. Activities there include development of new alloys, ceramics, and metal matrix composites, as well as the development of processes, such as additive manufacturing, to convert these materials into usable forms.
