Yes David, I understnad what you refers.
In my case, I was found one missconception or how can I say it..?, a changing of name to a reaction..,for example people from restoration and conservation fields call Cathodic Restoration to the process to clean metal pieces, and in chemical language this is a Electrolitical Reduction or just a Reduction Reaction..., while I was writting papers, I decided to use all these names so to be understand in a wide manner, and seems this is a "fashion name" to a simple redox reaction.

Subject: Misconceptions in Archaeometallurgy
As an archaeometallurgy enthusiast and blacksmith, I never use the word "Damascus" to describe pattern welding. I know I shouldn't critique every YouTube video about "Damascus steel", but I think it every single time.
What are your thoughts on "modern Damascus"? What other misconceptions do you often encounter in pop-Archaeometallurgy? What misconceptions have you seen in publications?
