Abstract: This talk will take you through different dimensions of carbon nanomaterials from 1-D nanotubes to 2-D graphene to 3-D nano architectures. Over the past twenty years both carbon nanotubes and graphene have opened up several unique material properties and some of them found interesting industrial and commercial applications. Complementing properties between nanotube and graphene will be highlighted. The journey of technology maturation, new product introduction and market penetration will be discussed. Further, the challenges in manufacturing, production, quality control and sustainability will also be discussed.
Speaker’s Bio: Dr. Ramesh Palanisamy has a Ph.D. in Chemical Sciences from Indian Institute of Science followed by postdoctoral appointments at Nagoya University and University of California Riverside. His industrial career for the past fifteen years spreads from start-up to defense manufacturing. He has commercialized carbon nanomaterial products for academic, industrial and government customers. He has authored more than 30 peer-reviewed research articles, holds several patents and has served as reviewer and guest editor for journal articles.
