Aluminum Alloys for Aerospace and Defense:
Manufacturing Technology and Quality Control
 
Abstract: Ravi Tilak will take an overview of the development of aluminum alloys for aerospace application from the mid 1930s until today. In his presentation he will summarize the important parameters that need to be controlled during the manufacturing of such alloys in the form of billets and slabs for end use as rolled plate, extrusions and forgings.

Ravi Tilak has a Masters Degree in Metallurgy and Materials Science (1983) from University of Kentucky. He has 25 patents to his credit covering over 600 patent claims. As CTO for ALMEX he is responsible for all aspects of equipment  design and process delivery to customers all over the world and for getting their qualifications with the aerospace majors. He is recognized as Value Generator in the field of aluminum alloy metallurgy.
