Resume: Larrin Thomas is a steel metallurgist working for US Steel Research. As a hobby he studies knife steels for his website and YouTube channel, Knife Steel Nerds. He developed his interest in knife steels through his father, Devin Thomas, who is a Cutlery Hall of Fame knifemaker and Damascus steel maker. Larrin and Devin recently completed the biggest study ever of the properties of pattern-welded Damascus steel. Larrin is the author of two books - Knife Engineering: Steel, Heat Treating, and Geometry; and The Story of Knife Steel: Innovators Behind Modern Damascus and Super Steels
