Based on my perspective and considering safety Cr2O3 is considered as a carcinogenic material. All that powder which content with Chromium are considered carcinogenic powder in thermal spray.

it's become hexavalent chrome after oxidation which is not good for direct food contact applications.

FYI - @ the TSSE 2022 we (thermal sprayers) will have a dedicated TSS networking area within the exposition, where we will have the (i) coffee-breaks, (ii) lunches, (iii) table tops and (iv) a poster competition for Emerging Professionals (graduate students and post-docs). Everything related to thermal spraying. Therefore... the networking will likely be intense :)
