I love solving mysteries - putting the clues together learned in a failure analysis investigation to understand what really occurred and why it really happened.

    Great question Josh!

I used to watch my dad weld as a child and fell in love with the sparks and glowing metal. I have had the good providence to work in material research and development, failure analysis, process design, process improvement, metallurgy and manufacturing engineering in and around foundries. A few of the benefits are:

    ·       Seeing glowing metal nearly as often as I'd like to see it

    ·       A better understanding of the incredible complexity of creation and manufacturing systems

    ·       An inexhaustible avalanche of things to learn

    ·       A steady supply of problems to fix and opportunities to innovate

    ·       That extremely satisfying "click" when the final puzzle piece fits into place on a particularly thorny problem and the solution presents itself

    ·       The opportunity to work with dedicated and interesting people of character

    ·       The opportunity to earn a living while doing all of the above

    ·       Seeing glowing metal nearly as often as I'd like to see it

Why would anyone want to do anything else?

The "why" of why I do what I do is to keep the job as unexciting as possible.  I work primarily in Quality as a supervisor, as a programmer, as Lead Auditor of our ISO systems, as well as wearing other hats, and I want everything to be mellow and "business as usual".  If the job becomes exciting, not only does my job become more involved, but it means we have an issue that needs addressing.  It's not that I don't want to perform the necessary tasks of investigation, filling out 8Ds or other forms, issuing alerts or non-conformance reports... it's that I don't want to HAVE to do it.

So the most exciting part of my job is to always connected with customers for their technical support by giving a better solution and make them happy by presenting companies services.

"why" to answer of why because it's make me feel happy by doing that and exploring my knowledge at the key points.
