The next TSS Open Mic speakers will be Dr. Jan Cizek (Institute of Plasma Physics (IPP) – Czech Republic) and Mr. Luc Pouliot (Polycontrols – Canada).
The title of their shared talk will be: "Industry or Academia? Get Ready for Close Encounters of the Thermal Spray Kind!"
Summary: One major strength of our thermal spray community is the strong synergy that has developed between academia and industry. A great example is the format of ITSC, our flagship conference, where cutting-edge research is presented alongside the latest industrial equipment, processes & materials, and where vibrant discussions between all stakeholders are commonly taking place. In this rather atypical seminar, we will discuss what it takes for that synergy to fuel growth, and we will share our thoughts on how students should prepare for a successful career, whether as a full-time researcher or as an industry person.
