The TSS Open Mic highlights established leaders in thermal spray, who share their life-time experiences with all of us. However, in this month’s special panel session, there will be an unexpected and amazing twist. It will feature three young rising stars and future leaders of our thermal spray community. Let’s explore the remarkable journeys of these emerging professionals, understand the challenges they face and take a peek in their dreams in the world of thermal spray technology.

Speakers

Edward Gildersleeve received his Ph.D. from Stony Brook University under the advisement of Prof. Sanjay Sampath at the Center for Thermal Spray Research in 2021. He has been working in the field of thermal spray for almost nine years.

Abhijith Sukumaran is a third-year graduate researcher and Ph.D. candidate in Plasma Forming Laboratory at Florida International University working in thermal spray and extreme environments research.

Bianca Preuß works as a research associate for the Materials and Surface Engineering Group at Chemnitz University of Technology since December 2021 after she earned her Master there. She is a team member of the Thermal Coating Department and her current main research topics are laser fusing of self-fluxing alloys, work-hardening of Multi-principal-element alloys (MPEAs) and solid lubricant incorporation in thermally sprayed self-fluxing alloy coatings.
