Modern society is highly dependent on thermal processing for manufacturing, materials production and processing, and energy production. Although relatively unknown to the general public, refractory materials enable heat processing to occur. The extraction, production, and processing of metals, petrochemical production, ceramic production, glass production, and a huge variety of other heat processes are dependent on refractories. This course gives an in-depth view of modern refractory technology, materials, and their application in various industries.
