  • 1.  Stacking faults in BCC alloys.

    Posted 03-14-2021 10:16

    Hello ASM Community,

I am a PhD candidate working in the area of "Alloy Development using Density Functional Theory".

Deformation mechanisms in alloys have been extensively explained with the theory of dislocation slip, twinning. When it comes to FCC alloys (ex. Austenitic SS, FCC High Entropy Alloys), stacking faults have been studied extensively. But in BCC alloys, stacking faults are not explored much.

I am interested in knowing if there's any literature available which talks about the effect of Stacking Fault Energy in BCC alloys on their ductile-to-brittle-transition-temperature (DBTT) phenomenon.

    Thanks in advance.

Thank you Dr Quinn. I will go through those answers on Research Gate.

I am looking for studies correlating the stacking fault energies with the ductile-to-brittle-temperature phenomenon (if there are any studies done for BCC alloys).
