Thank you David for your Contribution!!

Its is interesting to know about all the Historical places recognized by ASM along the time!

The last one (2019) Ferreria Mirandaola from Spain, I was seeing also by the youtube channel of the Ferrería and seeing there my good  friend Dr. Eng. Rafael Colás from Mexico (ASM Mexico Chapter) who is a very good friend of mine and he was one of who took in charge to do the  project for he postulation for this place.

Appreciate so much this post !

    Greetings

David, thanks for uploading the list of historical landmark-very interesting to the community.  What is the process to identify a site or an artifact for the historical designation?

    Hello Pankaj,

Let me tell you a piece of info about your question.

At ASM Membership go to Awards, there is Historical Landmarks.
You have to fill out the forms available on the ASM page within Awards or at least I found them there a while ago.

The historical place must be postulated, which has contributed to the development of technology, or an invention of a process, or a monument for example has been recognized to the Statue of Liberty and the Eiffeld Tower, it also has to do with the contribution to society, the link with society, whether or not there are governmental organizations that take charge of its maintenance so that it lasts over time, this last I took an eye on this when I saw about Ferreria Mirandaola (2019).

    Pankaj,
In addition to Patricia's response, there is a downloadable rules document for Historical Landmark Designation (pdf) located at:
    https://www.asminternational.org/membership/awards/nominate

    I hope this helps!

Patricia and David, thanks to both of you for your thoughtful responses.  My career was in hardmetal (cemented tungsten carbide) industry, but I did not see any entry, unless I missed.  The industry has been a key in metal shaping and developing many new technologies.  It will be good to review its history and see what we can celebrate as contributing to the overall materials fabric.
