    Patricia and all,

Patricia Silvano Carrizo has expressed concerns about the activities of the Archaeometallurgy Community and the selection of officers in the group. The committee has not yet been formalized by the society--although the community members have been working toward that goal--so no immediate action is required concerning the election of officers or the naming of the committee. ASM intends to investigate this matter fully in a manner that is fair to all parties and that is consistent with ASM policy. If you would like to comment on this matter, please message me directly. ASM will share its findings with the community members. In the meantime, you are encouraged to continue to post to this group on matters of general interest to the Archaeometallurgy Community.

It sounds like this group has grown so much that governing documents are needed. This is a good thing! It sets ground rules for everyone and would ostensibly prevent arguments regarding leadership and focus. As the founder and leading voice of this group, Patricia should of course have a say in the first incarnation of such a constitution and the resulting committee. ASM has well-established guidelines to help with this process, as Scott Henry mentions in his response.

I am not pretty sure what are the interests of other respected fellows, but I know Patricia Silvana your efforts and initiatives. You have been doing really great but we have to grow and learn together. So, Let's see What ASM Policymakers investigates. Moreover, We have to focus on the general matters of the Archaeometallurgy Community, which can groom us and our main activities.

I concur with Arsalan. In addition, I need to point out and recognize the initiative and the work put forward by Patricia and I am confused to see the amount of frustration expressed in her post due to things that are happening behind curtains and that we are not aware of. Anything that occurs in scientific committees like ours should be open and transparent otherwise we loose interest. We are here to share, learn and network on areas that are important for us. So, yes, let's ASM do whatever they have to do in this matter.
