Hello EDFAS,

Over the past few years, my colleagues have used XRF as a first-cut method to assess lead finish composition on packaged devices.  Doing this frees up our SEM/EDS for more intensive investigations.  This made me want to examine the universe of XRF tools in more detail.  So I'd like to pose the following questions to the community to gauge your personal experiences:

  > Do you use XRF frequently?  In what applications do you find it most useful?
  
  > What tool/features do you like the best?  (no need to cite brand names if you do not wish to)

  > What drawbacks have you seen using the XRF tools at your disposal?

  > In your experience how does XRF compare to other material analysis methods?

I'm looking forward to seeing your comments in these areas.
