Moderator: @John Weritz ,Vice President, Standards & Technology, The Aluminum Association
Speakers:
Mike Clinch, Innoval Technology, Loughborough University
@Robert Sanders, Sanders Aluminum Consulting LLC, Novelis Global R&D Center
This webinar series takes a fresh look at non-ferrous alloys and their innovations and novel applications. Each webinar will begin with an overview of the state of the market provided by the moderator. It will be followed by two talks from technical experts, one from ASM International and the other from IOM3. The first webinar in this series will focus on aluminum.
The talks in this webinar will highlight aluminum's strong tradition of innovation and its history of driving advances in other major industry sectors. Yet it now needs to reinvent itself as the sustainable material of choice for the circular economy. The growing importance of secondary metal and placing high recycled content alloys into high integrity applications will be covered using case studies. In addition, the use of aluminum in trucks, trains, and automobiles will be explored. Examples of new technologies such as joining and prompt scrap recycling in the Ford F-150 and the use of Giga-casting by Tesla will be presented.
In this webinar, attendees will learn about:
- The size and state of the aluminum market today
- Sustainable aluminum: an essential material for industrial innovation and the circular economy
- Development and challenges for aluminum products in ground transportation
The webinar is free but advance registration is required. Invite a colleague and join us! Save the date for the second webinar in this series, which will be held on November 15.
