My posting herein is specifically to the attention of those who –
Own a metallographic polishing company / Laboratory / testing facility / Head of a University Applied Material Dept.
Lab Managers and Senior materials research engineers, Senior polishing techs with purchasing authority… WITH "legacy" BUEHLER polishing machines.

The BUEHLER Central Force drive adapter Part# 60-2499!!!
In June of 2021 Buehler had ONE left in the entire warehouse system. I have FOUR (4) of them…
It fits / is compatible with Vanguard, Vector and AutoMet Power heads. Without it, as you know, automatic / semi-automatic polishing is impossible. If you have one of these machines you need it. If you have one of these machines and this part already, MORE of THIS part will increase your workflow speed and decrease the need for "change out" on specimen holders.
I have available a legacy BUEHLER Ecomet 6 AND accompanying Automet 2 Power Head.
Unlike the machines of this model found on equipment liquidation websites or Ebay… these two have been disassembled completely, down to the smallest washer and screw and have been fully restored.
BUEHLER used GBC bearings in production (Chinese) which rupture and leak after time… I have replaced them all and reset with Swedish SKF bearings and changed out motor gearbox with fresh oil / lubricant, cut to length and replaced ALL internal Hosing / tubing, cleaned all electrical and connections, installed new drive belt and given them a fresh paint job.
With the Automet 2 Power Head, I actually have the mounting pole to make the setup complete. This is the second one I have done. The first was for my own personal use…
If this were a 1960 Jaguar E-Type this would have been a "frame-off" restoration.
It took 10 months…
Only Isahak Kurtjian, Senior Service Engineer at Buehler for the last 46 years could have done what I've done (some of you may know Isahak, he is the last remaining Buehler tech employee to even HAVE experience with THIS generation of Buehler polishers).
If Isahak could be called "Dr. BUEHLER" … then I am "Dr. FRANKEN-Buehler"!!! It's ALIVE!!! 😊

It requires only UN-screwing your 8" mounting plate from your Buehler Ecomet3 adapter-spindle 5/8 Shaft and screwing down THIS plate for the transformation. THEN...you can use 10" platens and 10" papers cutting down on your work-flow time!!!
