What would you do to avoid hydrogen flaking related UT defects in C-Mn steels heavy wall forgings?

    (a) Longitudinal section                    (b) Horizontal section
Two sections (a) cross section (b) Longitudinal Hydrogen flakes in High Manganese bigger wall thickness forgings

High Manganese steel forgings have a tendency to pick Hydrogen and form flakes. These flakes further generate micro cracks and render the forging defective and cannot be used. The hydrogen content in the steel and picked from the process flow are responsible for this defect. Sinc the cross section is higher the processing time is higher especially during Heavy humidities in the atmosphere. Kindly share your process flow then we can check the probability of parameters causing these defects.
