I'm interested to know how current yellow brass specifications are viewed with regard to component longevity in potable water systems. Specifically, should the parts be susceptible to failure in a matter of 10 years or less? How does water quality and changing water quality factor in, and should formulations be changed to account for this, or should manufacturer's utilize slightly less zinc to ensure that beta phase alloy is not present, thereby mitigating the likelihood of dezincification? This is becoming an issue with plumbing fittings.
