Title: Hardness Testing for Heat Treaters
Speaker: @Kelsey Torboli, Applications Engineer, Struers Inc.
Surface hardened helical gears must survive in harsh environments, so the heat treatment must produce the desired microstructure and material properties. Many companies use hardness testing to verify their carburizing, nitriding, and induction hardening processes.
In this webinar, attendees will learn about the possible uses and limitations of:
- Vickers: CHD, Nht, and Rht
- Knoop: Nitrided or decarburization layer
- Rockwell: Jominy testing
- Area mapping to visualize heat treatment results
