Dear Thermal Spray Community!
If you want to pursue a PhD in thermally sprayed Environmental Barrier Coating Systems (EBCs) for SiC/SiC Ceramic Matrix Composites (CMCs), that's your chance.
The R&D will take place at the Forschungszentrum Jülich, Germany.
Your Task Will Mainly Include:
- Use of industrially established thermal spray process for coating deposition. - Process optimization using experimental design.
- Detailed microstructural characterization of the deposited coatings and establishing correlation with processing conditions.
- Performing steam corrosion tests, characterization of the tested layers using analytical methods and identification of failure mechanisms.
- Coordination with the project partner, participation in project meetings, writing project reports and scientific publications.
Your Profile:
- Fluency in written and spoken English
- Successfully completed Master`s Degree in the field of Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or a related field
_ Knowledge/experience in the field of ceramics and coating technology is advantageous
_ Ability to work independently and conscientiously
- Strong problem solving skills, thorough attention to detail
- Passion for hands on development and laboratory work
- Ability to adapt to change and willingness to be flexible in teamwork, strong communication skills
