    This recently went out to the people who had already written me to show interest in our C633 project, but I welcome anyone who reads this to respond in this forum.or by email.   Ideally, we'll have more than one successful replacement adhesive to recommend to ASTM.  Even those who may be close to approving one new adhesive product say they would like another, to avoid future single-source risks.

    Hi All,

    I appreciate your volunteering help for our urgently needed ASM Thermal Spray Society project to develop one or more film adhesives for ASTM C633 testing, to replace FM 1000.  The goal is to develop an industry consensus supporting their use and their inclusion in a revised ASTM C633.

    To focus our activities while avoiding needless duplication of effort, please now share your knowledge on the topics below...  I realize that some of us are farther along in this quest than others.  Please leave out proprietary information.  

    1.  Recommended physical property specifications for the film, to include thickness, tackiness, curing cycle, cured film tensile strength in C633, degree of polymer penetration into coatings, etc.  Ideally, this should include whatever is known about FM 1000.

    2.  What are the key thermal spray coatings for comparative testing of new films and FM 1000?

    3.  In general, what companies are making epoxy-based adhesive films for aerospace applications? 

    4.  What adhesive film products have you already tested (positive or negative results?) or would like to test in the future?  

    5.  Whatever else is pertinent.
