Dear Thermal Spray Community!

A very good article on the critical analysis of tensile bond strength tests for thermal spray coatings (e.g., ASTM C633) has been recently published in the ASM Thermal Spray Society (TSS) Journal of Thermal Spray Technology.

This is a very important paper to all of us who work in thermal spray and need to perform tensile adhesion tests (e.g., ASTM C633) on a regular basis.

Hi Bob,

To the best of my knowledge, there are two candidates as film glue that could potentially replace the FM-1000.

1) Loctite EA 9658 Aero: LOCTITE EA 9658 AERO - Henkel Adhesives (henkel-adhesives.com)

2) FM 309: FM®309-1 | Solvay

I was told by a member of our TS community that the Loctite EA 9658 reached the required 70 MPa (10,000 psi) mark of the FM-1000. This is good news. However, as this glue, as well as, the FM 309 need to be stored at below freezing temperatures (-18oC) if they are stored for longer than few weeks, it causes some additional difficulties in handling them.

Hopefully someone else from this list can provide some additional sets of info.
