Houston Chapter Mission Statement
The Houston Chapter of ASM International is in existence to provide service to local Society members and to the engineering community. The Chapter is formed for the exclusive purpose of advancing scientific, engineering, technical and practical knowledge, particularly with respect to the manufacture, treatment, selection and use of engineered materials, through education, research and the compilation and dissemination of information useful to the individual and beneficial to the general public.
The Chapter seeks to engage and connect materials professionals and their organizations to the resources necessary to solve problems, improve outcomes, and advance society.
To our members and the community-at-large, we strive to:
- Give our members and the local community high quality and high value educational opportunities that are not available at remotely comparable cost.
- Offer technical meetings where topical technical information is provided.
- Make the Society meetings enjoyable and foster professional growth and friendships.
- Recognize those individuals and companies for providing services which are in tune with our Society goals.
- Promote materials awareness to industry and as a career option to students.
- Aid students in materials and related fields through scholarships and technical assistance.
- Ensure that we are providing the services required by our membership and local industry.
The Houston Chapter supports our engineering community and students with our annual Technical Seminar, annual Clay Shoot, annual Golf Tournament, support of the Houston Science Fair, Teachers Camp and numerous career & networking opportunities with regional universities.
