Dr. Ray Fryan

Dr. Raymond “Ray” V. Fryan is the Executive Director of New Product Development at ASM International.  He serves as a key member of the cross-functional Chief Technology Office team, bringing his experience, leadership, and vision, to enhance and expand ASM International’s product offerings.  Prior to joining ASM International, Ray enjoyed a 37-year career with The Timken Company and TimkenSteel Corporation where he served in leadership positions in technology, manufacturing, quality, and business development.   

His most recent of which was as Vice President of Technology and Quality.  Ray’s ICME vision led to the creation and development of an ICME-capable team who created innovative new products - including ultra-pure fatigue resistant clean steels, and an award-winning family of high strength/high toughness alloys

Mohsen Seifi



AM Data Management – Opportunities and Challenges

Dr. Mohsen Seifi is the global director of AM programs at ASTM International responsible for AM center of excellence (CoE) and various AM programs. In his role, he brings technical leadership to accelerate standardization activities across all ASTM AM related technical committees and building new partnerships/initiatives as well as development of new AM standards related programs within diverse ASTM portfolios. He has 10+ years of managing and prioritizing multiple programs/projects in research/business environments with strong academic/business development background. He has also appointment as an adjunct faculty at Case Western Reserve University in OH, USA. Part of his PhD work focused on rapid qualification methods for metal additive manufacturing processes. He has co-authored more than 40 peer reviewed publications that are cited more than 1700 times and has presented more than 60 invited and keynote lectures at various technical meetings, industries and government agencies while also receiving various technical society honors and awards.

Dr. Brandon Ribic
America Makes

Dr. Brandon Ribic

Dr. Brandon Ribic was named Technology Director of America Makes in October 2019.  Driven by the National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining (NCDMM), America Makes is the national accelerator for AM and the first of eight Manufacturing Innovation Institutes (MIIs) established and managed by the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) as public-private partnerships. Prior to joining NCDMM, Dr. Ribic was a joining processes and additive manufacturing materials specialist at Rolls-Royce Corporation. He led the Materials Technology Center efforts in additive manufacturing (AM) process modeling and in-situ process monitoring. His research focused on welding and AM processes for various titanium and nickel superalloy gas turbine engine components. One of his most notable achievements is successfully developing, qualifying, and productionizing (TRL 7) the first ever CMSX-4 AM repair for Rolls-Royce.

 

MMPDS & Additive Metals - Battelle

Mr. Doug Hall

Mr. Hall joined Battelle in 2017 as Program Manager for Metallic Material Properties Development and Standardization (MMPDS). Previously, he spent nearly 30 years at Honeywell Aerospace supporting stress and life analysis of original equipment manufacturer and Tier I Engine and Tier I Airframe components for military and commercial platforms across multiple product lines. His experience includes developing design allowables for metals and composites using the MMPDS and CMH-17 data generation and analysis methods.


Project Engineering Manager - ASME

Kate Hyam is a Project Engineering Manager at ASME in the Standards and Certification department. She is a Mechanical Engineer PE with over 13 years of experience in the development of ASME standards in a variety of areas. In her current role at ASME she enjoys working with diverse teams in the development of standards, guidance documents and events with the end goals to improve the quality of life, increase safety and inform the world of engineering advancements. Her current projects are focused on the areas of Big Data, manufacturing, additive manufacturing and verification and validation of computational modelling and simulation. She is also responsible for international outreach and collaboration with nuclear standard volunteers in Asia. Prior to working at ASME she was a design engineer for Bechtel Power, responsible for mechanical systems for natural gas and coal fired power plants.
