Founded in 1942, the ASM Rocky Mountain Chapter is a premier professional society of materials scientists and metallurgists in Colorado. As part of the ASM International, with a membership of over 50,000 worldwide, the organization enables its members to keep up to date on the latest scientific, technological, and marketing trends.

It provides valuable opportunities to learn from fellow materials engineers and scientist from across the country and around the world that are invited to speak at our regular monthly meetings. These meetings not only provide the opportunity to hear from leading experts on a wide range of topics, but also provide an opportunity to meet and socialize with fellow materials scientists and engineers from throughout Colorado and the Midwest area.

The ASM-RM Chapter supports each year:

  • The "Charles Barrett Medal" award to a selected outstanding engineer, scientist or professor whose contribution has had a significant impact in the materials and metallurgy development.
  • The Chapter strongly supports education by providing undergraduate scholarships every year to two outstanding Colorado School of Mines (CSM) students
  • Assists and participates with the Materials Advantage Club at CSM, providing speakers when needed and subsidizing student meals at the ASM RM monthly meeting.

We at the ASM-RM Chapter encourage both members and non-members to attend meetings and become involved in the local chapter.  If you would like to get involved or have questions, please contact asmrockymountain@gmail.com.
