    I would like to share something about myself here. 

    I'm Chirag Raval. By profession I'm Metallurgist and Materials Engineering Specialise.

    Experienced in Thermal Spray Applications & Know How Technology Transfer Globally.

    Hi Chirag,
    Glad to "e-meet" !

    I'll continue the thread by presenting myself : Andre Liberati, recently graduated from McGill and now postdoc at Concordia University. My previous work was around composite metallization via cold spray, and nowadays I'm working more with HVAF/HVOF as well as novel materials for improved coating performance.

    Working with the community has been a great experience and I'm eager to learn more and share more - so I'm glad this platform is becoming the place for more exchanges !

    Hello everyone!

    I love the idea of being able to briefly introduce ourselves, so here is mine: I'm Daniel Tejero, and this January I finished my PhD at the University of Nottingham (UK), working with ceramic coating for aerospace applications deposited using plasma and HVOF thermal spray, with a focus on environmental barrier coatings. I will soon start working at Rolls-Royce, still dealing with thermal spray, coatings for high temperatures and gas turbines. 

    I'm happy to see so many people in this community passionate about thermal spray, so much to learn!

    Thanks for starting the "e-meet" thread. This is wonderful.

    Now it is me... my name is Rogerio Lima, I am PhD graduate from Stony Brook University (USA). My PhD advisor was Prof. Chris Berndt. Currently, I am a Senior Research Officer at the Thermal Spray Team of the National Research Council of Canada (NRC).

    My main scientific interest is R&D of thermally sprayed TBCs & EBCs for aerospace applications.

    For sure we can all network and learn from each other in this great platform. It can be a great instrument to share technical and commercial information about thermal spray.

    Looking forward to meeting you all here... and in-person very soon.

    Hi everyone,

    I am taking this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Sanoj Kumar Karki and I am currently pursuing PhD program in Mechanical Engineering at Cleveland State University (CSU), Ohio. My PhD advisor is Dr. Tushar Borkar. I am currently a research assistant in the advanced manufacturing and materials processing laboratory at CSU. 

    I am currently involved in the study of Oxidation resistant ceramic coatings for high temperature application such as in Forging industries. 

    I would love to learn the scope of ceramic based thermal spray coatings and also discuss the robotic aspects involved which is crucial for my ongoing project.

    This is a great platform to learn and share knowledge and ideas. I look forward to meet you all.

    Welcome to the group.

    For sure the use of robotics and automation (big data, machine learning, digital twin, modelling, simulation, etc.) is become more and more important in our thermal spray industry.

    It is without a doubt a hot area.

    Hello everyone,
    Glad to e-connect with you all.

    I would also like to continue this thread by presenting myself. 
    I am Aravind Kumar Thoutam, a PhD student within Thermal spraying at Concordia University, Montreal, Canada.
    Previously, I worked as a Research Assistant within Thermal spray at University West, Sweden. I also did my dual Masters in University West, Sweden and  VIT University, India. I have little experience over different applications in thermal spraying like single and multilayered TBCs, Antiviral and Antibacterial coatings, environmental barrier coatings, BioCoatings, Coatings for repair applications for Boilers, etc. I also am familiar with metal additive manufacturing on Ni based superalloys and Computer Aided Engineering. Currently I am exploring bondcoat applications for aeroengines. 

    I am eager to learn and grow more from all of your experiences and expertise. I am very glad to be a part of this community and looking forward to meeting you all in person.

    You are right. Let's all catch up at the ITSC 2023 here in Canada (Quebec City).

    And specifically regarding the ITSC 2023, at TSS we have the (fantastic) feeling that we might break the record of participation of Emerging Professionals (EP), i.e., students and post-docs in the ITSCs.

    Why?

    As per the other message about the TSSE 2022, during 2020 and 2021, the majority, if not all in-person events were cancelled. As now we are slowly coming back to "normal", we have the impression that many EPs will finally be able to travel, show their R&D results and network face-to-face with a plethora of members of our thermal spray community, from different parts of the world.

    The ITSC is the premier event for thermal spray professionals, attracting global innovators, influencers and decision makers from around the world.

    For this reason, let's all catch up at the ITSC 2023!

    Very good to hear about the things and working area with the strong technical background everyone has here at one platform in different coating applications. 

    Glad to know each of you with this thread. 

    So Paul wondering to know which ceramic powder you're going to use for electrical insulation? Is it Metco 105SFP from Metco or equivalent? 

    I've experienced with Metco 105SFP (Alumina) powder for electrical insulation application.

    @Chirag Raval: Currently we are using GTV 40.05.1 (-45 +20um), which seems to be similar to the powder you mentioned. So far, we got good results with the GTV Powder. We are also working on our Suspension-APS process with an Al2O3 suspension from Treibacher. Let's see how it goes!

    Dear Paul, Chirag and All,

    I believe this interesting post on electrical insulating ceramic coatings has a strong connection with a previous post from Prof. Milad Rad (University of Southern Indiana - USA).

    It was about the use of ceramic rod feedstocks and flexible ceramic cord feedstocks to manufacture dense ceramic coatings via flame-spray. Perhaps these processing methods could be an alternative to produce dense ceramic coatings for electrical insulating applications.

    I was wondering if anyone on this discussion list could comment on that?

    Good to hear that you've got good results. Also good to know that you're doing more experiments with suspension plasma for ceramic coating for electrical insulation at Treibacker. So you're working with Richard at Treibacker? 

    Let us know about the experiments and about the results you'll get via paper publications or presentations mode.
