Purpose:The mission of the Content Committee is to proactively generate more Materials Information through content acquisition and development activities aligned with the Strategic Plan across all ASM & Affiliate Committees. This includes all types of published information and related existing Committees. The Content Committee shall support the ASM Strategic Plan and be accountable and responsible for initiatives related to content development and dissemination.
Product and Services Committee is Responsible for:Umbrella group representing all ASM content-generating committees and products. The committee maintains an ASM Content Roadmap.
Qualifications of Members:Primary qualification is experience with an ASM content-generating committee. The capability of participating, preferably in-person, during at least one major meeting per year (typically a fall meeting during the ASM Annual Event with MS&T). The capability to participate directly on committee work both on-line and by conference calls during the balance of the year.
Committee Size:Approximately 15-20 members
Term:General members are reappointed annually (selected as representatives of their “home” committees). At large committee members can be appointed for a one-year, two-year, or three-year term.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define methods for committees to inventory their content
- Develop an overall assessment of ASM content
- Provide global priorities for ASM content development and acquisition, through existing content products, through start up of new content development initiatives, and through partnerships with other organizations.
- Share information on best practices or new, innovative methods being used to increase the amount of high-quality content being published.
- Provide input on content taxonomies and other content categorization and navigation schemas.
Support of Committee Activities:ASM Staff Liaison will provide an orientation and information prior to the beginning term date of September 1st annually. In addition, the Staff Liaison participates as committee secretary and is an active partner in all meetings and activities of the committee.
