I am pleased to report that the ASM Core and Emerging Technology Council (CETC) has approved the formation and launch of the ASM Archaeometallurgy Committee. The CETC reviewed the scope and purpose document for the committee that several ASM members collaborated to develop. The version of the scope document considered by the CETC is attached here. Thanks to those members who worked together to create the purpose document. This announcement was first made earlier this week to the Archaeometallurgy Community on ASM Connect. We are informing the broader ASM Online Community in case it sparks interest in getting involved in the committee. ASM members can complete a volunteer interest form to indicate that they would like to considered for membership in this new committee. ASM is planning to hold an organizational meeting (via the web) later in October to discuss the process for launching the committee and best practices for ongoing committee operations. Any members who complete the interest form will be invited to join the meeting.
