    Hello!

I am a member of the Emerging Professionals Committee (EPC) within ASM. We are a group of early career individuals with goals of problem solving, improving materials performance, and developing professionally. One of our ASM deliverables is the "Perspectives for Emerging Professionals Symposium" at the IMAT conference. This year, the IMAT 2023 conference will be held in Detroit, Michigan on October 16th-19th.

We are reaching out to invite you to submit a brief abstract. The abstract submission period will be open through Friday, February 24th. To apply, email a 100-200 word abstract to madilyn.fesenmaier@gmail.com. Please see the information below to get a better feel for the types of session discussions we are looking for.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions, and please pass this message along to those who may be interested in submitting an abstract.

    Thanks!

IMAT: Perspectives for Emerging Materials Professionals Symposium

This symposium is specifically intended to provide a forum for new professionals in materials science and engineering to present their work and early career experiences. New professionals can also expect presentations which provide interesting perspectives from those who are already established in their field.

Abstracts focusing on emerging technologies and/or entrepreneurial pursuits within the field of materials science and engineering are particularly encouraged.

Unique models of industrial organization, collaboration, design of experiment, IP portfolio development, materials public policy, and/or training and education are also of interest. Authors with all levels of education, from all affiliate societies are encouraged to submit abstracts to provide attendees the opportunity to understand the wide variety of professional opportunities possible in the early years of a career in materials science.

This symposium also seeks to provide a forum for dialogue about job searches, job satisfaction, and technical matters from each of the industrial, academic, and government lab sectors. No proceedings are planned for this symposium; therefore no written manuscript will be required upon acceptance of submitted abstracts.
