As the power density of consumer electronics, electric vehicles and aircraft avionics equipment has increased, new methods and materials are needed to manage heat load while improving performance – without adding weight. AlSi alloys can be used in applications such as structural heatsinks requiring a CTE match to copper, and in optics requiring a CTE match to nickel. In this webinar, attendees will learn how lightweight aluminum-silicon alloys provide the benefits required for these demanding applications.
Speaker Biography:
Nick Farrah is a Product Line Director at Materion Corporation. He has almost 40 years of experience with firms that provide materials, equipment and services to a broad range of technically demanding industries, including semiconductor, aerospace, healthcare, defense, X-ray, acoustics and high-energy physics research.
With Materion since 2011, and based in northern California, Mr. Farrah oversees the company’s metal matrix composites, technical ceramics and beryllium foil product lines. He is also the market director for the semiconductor and medical industries. Mr. Farrah holds a BA in computer science and economics from the University of California, Berkeley, and an MBA from Santa Clara University.
