    EXECUTIVE COMITTEE MESSAGE

Congratulations on being part of the newly rejuvenated Columbia Basin Chapter!  We have already had numerous professional events and are really looking to cement ourselves as an up and coming ASM chapter.

    Fall is almost here!

Fall is the time to relax a little bit. There are a series of Fall reading lists being published to help people do just that. We will be hoping to improve my effectiveness of communication by doing some self-help book reading, attending leadership classes, webinars.

It was great to see some faces at the chapter picnic. We had ~40 people attend the BBQ at Matt Olszta's house for our first real face-to-face meeting. We are trying to expand and make new members, and if there is enough interest we will have a second fall BBQ.

The next few meetings are :

    ·       September 11th, 2024: Webinar featuring Dr. Toni Marechaux, ARPA/US DOE

    ·       October 24th, 2024: Dr. Navin Manjooran at WSU Tri Cities Auditorium

    ·       November 14th, 2024, Webinar featuring John Geraci, Founder and Managing Partner, ci2advisors.com

For future webinars and in-person meetings, we will be looking for speakers. If you have a topic that you would like to present, please let us know at the e-mail address below.

The chapter still has open positions for people looking to get involved. These positions would mostly give you a chance to develop a team and assist the chapter to make industry connections, provide articles to the newsletter, speak at one of the webinars next year. The articles, webinars and speakers would be help engage our membership and provide value to the membership.

Dr. Olszta will be attending the ASM Professional Development Day in Cleveland, OH in late September as part of our drive towards strengthening our place in the ASM community.

In the future, we hope to bring you bi/quarterly newsletters with interesting news and updates for the local chapter.
