  • 1.  Becoming a Fellow

    I have been a member since October 1997 and was hoping to become a Fellow sometime and a colleague the late Dr John Shields was going to sponsor me. However, with his passing and living in England I am at a quandary regarding the way forward. I am already a Fellow of IoM3 in the UK and a Fellow of The Welding Institute UK.

    Any advice would be appreciated

    Candidates for the award may be proposed by Chapters through their Executive Committee, Affiliate Societies, Regional Councils, Committees/Councils, Award Selection Committee, Awards Policy Committee, ASM Fellow or any five members of the Society.

    I suggest you reach out to your fellow ASM members or any committees/chapters you are a part of and see if they will nominate you.

    To add to what Marissa said, the awards policy committee and the IDEA committee held a webinar on the topic not later than last week. 
    It will be (if it's not already) soon available on the ASM website if you missed it.

    The most important thing to start the ball rolling, is to find an ASM member, chapter or committee to nominate you.
