The Gold Medal is among the most prestigious awards of the Society. It was designed by Walter Sinz, prominent Cleveland artist on the staff of the Cleveland School of Art. The figure on the medal symbolizes science, holding in his right hand a mass of raw ore and in his left hand, a finished ingot, indicating how science transmutes the raw materials into a finished and usable product. In the lower left corner is the lamp of knowledge. - Pictured:  2024 Recipient of the ASM Gold Medal - Prof. Anthony D. Rollett, FASM
