Journal of Phase Equilibria and Diffusion celebrates its 45th anniversary this year! In her editorial recognizing this milestone, Editor-in-Chief Ursula Kattner wrote, "To celebrate the 45th anniversary of the Journal of Phase Equilibria and Diffusion and its predecessors, the editorial office selected 15 outstanding papers to reflect the history and breadth of topics…These articles are just a few of the many important contributions to phase equilibria and crystallographic, chemical, diffusion, thermodynamic, and kinetic properties of phases in inorganic materials systems. They clearly demonstrate the evolution that the Journal of Phase Equilibria and Diffusion has undergone since its original introduction as Bulletin of Alloy Phase Diagrams. Although the emphasis has traditionally been on metallic systems, contributions on other inorganic systems, such as ceramics or salts, are increasingly important and welcome."
