ASM International is celebrating Black History Month by honoring Walt Braithwaite, a pioneer who revolutionized aerospace design during his nearly four decades at Boeing.
Braithwaite’s technological contributions lead to the creation of computer-aided design/manufacturing (CAD/CAM), and introduced the first fully digital jetliner, the Boeing 777. Braithwaite also played a key role in developing the Initial Graphics Exchange Specification (IGES), enabling seamless digital collaboration across CAD/CAM systems.
Thanks to trailblazers like Braithwaite, we can continue to push the boundaries of aerospace materials and processes at conferences like AeroMat 2025. Join us to explore the latest innovations shaping the future of aerospace and recognize the influential contributions that led us there!
