  • 1.  Low Temperature ( 400 deg C ) Nitriding

    I am intending to carry out Vacuum / Gas Nitriding at 400 deg C. ( Low Temperature Nitriding ). Tried once but not successful as Ammonia was not cracking. Can you please suggest suitable HT cycle and facilities ( in India or other countries )  for trying Nitriding treatment at 400 deg C ?

    Dear Sandur,
    The only nitriding treatment that can function at a temperature as low as 400°C is plasma nitriding; such a treatment was experimented in the late '70's of last century. To improve kinetics you may add some H2S that may lead to a threefold increase of top carbonitrides layer thickness. Resulting porosity is limited.
