    Is metallic laser powder bed fusion more akin to casting, welding, or some other special process, and what major hurdles must the industry overcome to achieve the same level of confidence as other special processes?

    Assuming the process is used to make parts; it is akin to Powder Metallurgy sintered parts. Achieving full density is a big challenge.
