  • 1.  Prior Austenite Grain Boundary Etching

Does anyone have a good method for etching for prior austenite grain boundaries in quench and tempered then induction hardened alloy steel? I am able to get a good etch on the quench and tempered core but not in the induction hardened case, any help would be greatly appreciated.

We have good luck with just Q&T or normalized and induction hardened parts using the prior austenite grain boundary etch from ES Laboratory in California. I have not tried it with Q&T and induction hardened parts.

I would like to know the tempering time and temperature.
