Title: Using ICME to predict advanced material properties: high and low cycle fatigue
Speaker: Gary Whelan, Senior Materials Design Engineer
Description: This Webinar is a part of a series by QuesTek designed to introduce attendees to Integrated Computational Materials Engineering (ICME), the advantages it provides, and how it may be used to solve materials challenges. In this webinar, the use of ICME to predict structure-property relationships will be discussed, with a particular focus on dynamic mechanical properties such as fatigue. We will also discuss how QuesTek’s ICMD® software can help engineers take advantage of these modeling tools to design and optimize materials achieving target properties.
In this webinar, attendees will learn about:
- Physics-based structure-property modeling using ICME tools
- Microstructure-sensitive fatigue simulations
Speaker Biography:
Gary Whelan is a Senior Materials Design Engineer at QuesTek Innovations. Gary has experience utilizing ICME to model process-structure-property relationships for metal alloys of various material classes (e.g., Steel, Aluminum, Nickel, Titanium) and for various industry applications (e.g., Aerospace, Oil & Gas, Medical, Automotive). Specifically, Gary’s research efforts have largely focused on physics-based simulation and machine learning applied to fatigue in metallic components, with an emphasis on additive manufacturing. Gary received his PhD from Georgia Tech in 2020 where he focused on fatigue in Titanium and Aluminum alloys for aerospace applications.
