Welcome! We are pleased that you are interested in the activities of the ASM International - Los Alamos Chapter.
We always enjoy new members, whether you are new to town, staying for a short-term assignment, have been here for years or have just discovered ASM.
Our meetings are open to the public, so if you have an interest, contact one of our officers. We also support several local activities including science fairs and educational endeavors. If you are interested in support for an activity, please contact the officer associated with that area for consideration.

Chapter History
The Los Alamos Chapter of ASM International was chartered in June of 1946 and serves metallurgical engineers, materials scientists, teachers, students and people interested in materials information throughout northern New Mexico.
Los Alamos is Spanish for "The Cottonwoods." Los Alamos is an incorporated county located in northern New Mexico in the Jemez Mountains west of the Rio Grande.
The major employer in the area is Los Alamos National Laboratory. It was originally founded to undertake the Manhattan Project in 1943.

Now, the Laboratory also works on nuclear nonproliferation, border security, energy and infrastructure security, countermeasures to nuclear and biological terrorist threats, and fundamental science in the fields of high-energy and applied physics and theory, high-performance computing, dynamic and energetic materials science, superconductivity, quantum information, advanced materials, bioinformatics, theoretical and computational biology, chemistry, earth and environmental science, alternative energy systems, and engineering sciences and applications.
